F*ck Selfie culture

Multiple oil paint self portraits targeting the harsh reality of unrealistic beauty standards that social media has set and how it has distorted ones perception of self.

Self portraits done over the years to see how the paintings have been depicted differently. The important part of the paintings, although all share the same meaning are completely original and cannot be re-created again, or if achieved it would not be under the same emotional influence.

"I plan to keep this task going and use mirrors as a reference, you can almost see it's like a timeline of my perception of myself constantly deteriorating over time due to the ongoing pressures society puts on us"

The thickness of the oil paint, representing the stagnation of emotions, the heaviness of the weight of carrying these emotions, the decay of the mind and the anger- you can see the anger and violence of having enough of feeling this way coming out throughout the portraits.

They are an important process towards releasing negative energy.
